Ayurveda is about reconnecting with nature, be it our inner nature through an understanding of the doshas, or outer nature with the world around us. We live in a time with great potential for disconnection. Foraging is a wonderful way to reconnect with nature and eat exactly what our bodies need. I’ve spent the last decade learning about plants through the Ayurvedic lens. I love using herbs from India but I can forage for nettle, cleavers and wild garlic on my doorstep. Ayurveda sees that such local plants are most powerful for healing. As I walk the same fields and woods each season, the more I realise how foraging is transformative.
"Thanks Jo for a great day foraging and making. Really enjoyed it. Learnt more from you today than 2 one day and 1 four day course. Will definitely be returning for spring/summer. Thanks for passing on your knowledge at such a reasonable cost." (Steve, Devizes)

"This ancient path of the forager reconnects us to the vital, to wildness, to creation, to what is in effect the very pulse of life itself. One of the most direct ways to experience this is to consume this wildness. Take it into our bodies, where like a sleeper agent, it lies dormant until you have eaten enough to change the structure of your blood, thereby changing your brain and how you relate to the non-human world. For it is this simple act. The act of taking wild food and medicine into our body, that in time becomes so transformative." (Robin Harford, Eatweeds.couk

'Wild Ayurveda' podcast with Robin Harford, Eatweeds
I had the pleasure of meeting my foraging hero on the banks of a Devon river to explore how Ayurveda — the world’s oldest system of natural health — can be rooted in the wild plants of Britain. Listen here!
Together, we unpack the Ayurvedic concepts of the five elements, the three doshas, and the six tastes — and how these ancient principles can guide your modern life, food choices, and foraging practice. I share how local herbs like nettle, dandelion and wild garlic can be powerful food medicines, how foraging supports physical and emotional balance, and why bioindividuality is key to healing.
"This is a lively, grounded conversation blending Eastern philosophy with native plants, seasonal eating, and self-care rooted in the land."
