Warm oil enema (matra basti) + massage
To support nervous system, back, joint issues, debility, chronic constipation (+ all vata issues)
Service Description
Basti is a deeply nourishing Ayurvedic enema therapy using warm medicated oil tailored to the individual’s constitution and condition. It is one of the most important treatments for balancing Vata dosha, which governs the nervous system, colon, joints, and all movement in the body. Can give benefits from one treatment or ask about a package of 3 - 5 treatments for maximum effect. Because Vata imbalance is at the root of many chronic conditions, Oil Basti is especially supportive for back pain, joint pain, debility, ongoing constipation, neurological disorders, and dryness throughout the system. The treatment begins with gentle preparation of the abdomen and lower back with a warm oil massage to relax the tissues. Warm herbal oil is then administered slowly and comfortably, allowing it to coat and nourish the colon. This helps soften accumulated toxins, lubricate dryness, calm the nervous system, and support natural elimination. Oil Basti is grounding, stabilising, and deeply restorative-many people feel lighter, calmer, and more centred afterwards. This therapy must be done after food, and clients are asked to rest lying on their back for at least 30 minutes following the treatment to support absorption and comfort. Because Oil Basti works deeply on the nervous system and digestive tract, it is best scheduled on a day when you can rest more than usual. Light, freshly prepared vegetarian food is recommended, and stimulants such as coffee, alcohol, heavy exercise, and swimming should be avoided for the remainder of the day. Sneha Basti is highly therapeutic but not suitable for everyone. It should be avoided during: Acute diarrhoea, vomiting, or dehydration Fever, acute infection, or severe illness Rectal bleeding or haemorrhoids during a flare Severe abdominal pain of unknown origin Recent abdominal, rectal, or colorectal surgery Active inflammatory bowel disease during a flare Pregnancy Very low digestive fire (severe indigestion, nausea, or heaviness after meals)
