Service Description

Basti is a deeply therapeutic Ayurvedic treatment designed to support the ligaments, discs, nerves, blood vessels, and bones of the lumbosacral region. The term basti refers to the process of holding warm medicated oil over a specific area of the body. In this treatment, a soft dough dam is placed on the lower back and filled with warm herbal oil selected according to your condition. This allows the oil to penetrate deeply into the tissues, offering nourishment, lubrication, and relief. Basti is an excellent therapy for a wide range of back‑related concerns, including musculoskeletal and neurological injuries, chronic lower backache, lumbar spondylitis and spondylosis, slipped or prolapsed discs, intervertebral disc protrusion, nerve compression, sciatica, and sacroiliac joint dysfunction. Many clients experience a sense of warmth, release, and improved mobility even after the first session. The treatment combines two core Ayurvedic actions: Snehana (therapeutic oleation): Deep nourishment and lubrication of muscles, ligaments, and joints Swedana (localized heat therapy): Gentle heat to soften tissues, reduce stiffness, and enhance absorption This dual action calms aggravated Vata dosha, which is primarily responsible for pain, stiffness, dryness, and degeneration. After the oil is removed, a gentle massage and localized steam therapy are applied to enhance circulation, absorption, and relaxation. How Kati Vasti Supports Healing Deep tissue nourishment: Warm medicated oils penetrate deeply, improving lubrication and tissue strength Vata pacification: Heat and oil counteract dryness, coldness, and stiffness Anti‑inflammatory action: Helps reduce swelling, muscle spasm, and nerve irritation Improved circulation: Local warmth enhances blood flow and supports detoxification Muscle relaxation & flexibility: Reduces tightness and improves spinal mobility Commonly Recommended For Chronic lower back pain Lumbar spondylosis and spondylitis Sciatica and radiating leg pain Intervertebral disc prolapse (slipped disc) Degenerative disc disease Sacroiliac joint dysfunction Osteoarthritis of the lumbar spine Muscle spasm and stiffness Postural or occupational back strain Many clients feel relief within 1–2 sessions, while chronic conditions typically benefit from 5–14 sessions.
